Initial Thoughts on the Lolla Lineup

The lineup has been announced, let the speculation between bonna and lolla redux begin.

First thing is that there are a massive amount of the same bands playing:

Beasties, Snoop, A Bird, TVOTR, Decemberists, Neko Case, Ben Harper, AC, BoH,Of Montreal, Coheed, Crystal Castles, Bon Iver, Santogold...

But the one thing I am noticing is the breadth of what has been referred to as "second tier" acts. The list of additional acts is kind of kicking me in the gut at the moment. This list includes (holy fucking shit man): Fleet Foxes, Los Campesinos, Tool, Kings of Leon, Vampire Weekend, Deerhunter (<--- FUUUUCK), Gang Gang Dance, Friendly Fires, Peter Bjorn and John, Dan Auerbach (good call on Black Keys always showing at lolla kid), No Age, Ra Ra Riot ...

The other thing that Lolla has going for it is the list of those third tier bands. What I would describe as bands I've heard a lot about but don't know which includes: Airborne Toxic Event, Silversun Pickups, Passion Pit, The Gaslight Anthem, and Thievery Corporation.

So in conclusion ... i'm totally second guessing my decision now. Better headliners, every band that was a "must see" at Bonna, plus fucking lykke li ... shit shit shit shit

  1. a) If you come to all points west with me...then all (maybe more like 85ish%) of your worries will be assuaged.

    b) Lolla.....been there done that... its time to fucking dig it out in the dirt at bonna. MAN UP!

    c) don't jump the gun until we see the schedule. remember how there were probably 30 less bands we wanted to see last year and how we had to miss half of them due to conflicts? ...so yeah...I think we could basically kiss 60% of this years lolla line-up goodbye. Though this means it would probably mean only giving up 40% of the non bonna acts. .. but still.. you and i both know there would be some painful decisions to make..
