this strange plan is random at best ...

built to spill is currently revolutionizing my idea that I know anything about music at all. growing up their single "strange" was a wber regular. Guisto got the gusto for that song, ya know? My affection for that song is pretty deep. I honestly would put it probably in the top 20 all time favorite songs just because it embodies so much of my musical taste. I used to get it confused with "where is my mind" or like i couldn't remember which band sang which song sometimes. Hey, I was 16 and thought nu-metal was the future of rock, so give me a break. at the time my music consumption practices was the typical random assortment of singles, and album collecting wasn't yet a viable choice unless you were a mIrc wizard, or used newsgroups. Both technologies still seem to elude me in terms of how they can be used conveniently. In any event, strange was the one and only built to spill song I knew.

anyways, i remember probably about 4 years ago built to spill released a new album. I don't recall my mind set at the time, but I do remember them being hailed as some sort of epic jam band. I remember listening to like 2 songs, becoming bored, and never looking back.

last weekend I was reintroduced to the band, or really, introduced to a new song by them. I don't know the name of the song but it kind of hit all my marks for great indie rock. since then it's been a hell of a ride. It's weird to be living on music that is over a decade old and experiencing it like it's new, because, well to me it is.

anyways, i just want to really say thanks to Bill for making this happen, and give a shout out to built to spill for being (apparently) an AMAZING indie rock band.
