Welcome back to the grind friends!
Best Album of Late: Veckatimest by Grizzly Bear. As predicted in an earlier post this album an exceptional piece of well composed aural beauty. Don't believe me? Check out the first single Two Weeks' video here. Also in that post are additional goodies including a live mp3 version of the track, and a link to a new black cab sessions featuring g-bear.
See you at the bonna set folks. It's going to be sick.
Favorite new band of the moment: Akron / Family. Basically I've completely lost my shit over their album Love is Simple. An epic fusion of blues rock, repetitive sing along chorus jams, and sappy "love is great" lyrics combine to form an amazingly fun and interesting album that I have not been able to get out of my head at any point this weekend.
A resurgence in interest of NMH? Its like Christmas in May. Time to bust out the trumpet and get to work learning the solo in Oh Comely, eh?
Highlights from the weekend:
- Rage fueled car tirade regarding a mislabeled and incomplete radiohead mix.
- DJ Here Tonight is forced due to technical difficulties to play an all vinyl set. Despite a limited collection the eclectic mix satifies everyone. The plans for a second turntable have their metaphorical seed planted.
- Sonic Anarchy ripped up the dance floor Elaine Benes style. Black people everywhere cringed. Fun was had, and nobody but my poor flip flooped feet were phyically harmed. Mentally damaged though: probably everyone that wasn't smoking dope and subjected to the unparalleled spastic jolts of white boy nonsense that eminated from my soul into their unfortunate occular nerves.
- I heard peacebone this weekend and it made me smile again.
